What is Recovery Month?

Now in its 32nd year, Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those in recovery, just as we celebrate improvements made by those who are managing other health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and heart disease.

Each September, Recovery Month works to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery in all its forms possible.

How can I be involved?

Join us on one of our exciting Recovery Month initiatives!

Businesses Supporting Recovery Month

We are going around to local businesses in Downtown Newnan and Ashley Park delivering Recovery Month Advocacy Bags and posters.

We are inviting businesses to display recovery month posters in their business with purple string lights (included) to spread awareness about Recovery Month.

If you are in the Coweta area and are interested in a Recovery Month Advocacy Bag delivery, fill out the form below!

Community Recovery Event

Join us on Sunday, September 19th from 1:00pm-3:00pm for a Recovery event.

In celebration of National Recovery Month, AVPRIDE, a youth development, wellness, and leadership organization, is partnering with Coweta F.O.R.C.E.Pathway NetworkAttainable Dreams, and In Ryan’s Name to recognize Coweta and Fayette individuals in recovery or who work in recovery.

This year’s theme is Recovery is for Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community. We plan to bring recovery professionals, those in recovery, and their friends and families out to Staley Park in Sharpsburg for an afternoon of food, games, and fun. During the event we will award those that are in recovery who go above and beyond the call of duty and hear some personal stories.

Please use the form below to nominate someone in recovery that is encouraging and inspiring to others. Describe why you think that person should receive an award. All nominees will be recognized and receive a certificate. At least four individuals (2 per county) will receive an award for their selflessness, transparency, and determination to go above and beyond for others in recovery. Nominations will close on Saturday, September 4. A nomination committee made up of community members will then meet to decide who will receive the awards.
